Get a Great Deal on Car Insurance 12/07/2011
Lately, I have been finding trails outside the norm in San Diego (see my post about the abandoned house in Jamul) and trying out night riding. Cycling by moonlight is great – you can only really see 15 feet in front of you, so the landscape is an ever-changing surprise that keeps you on your toes. Unfortunately, though, this “not knowing what’s out there” phenomenon also pertains to driving home from the trails. In case a rogue deer or Bigfoot decides to suddenly jump out from behind a tree, I need to know I’m covered in case I have an accident on some random dark road. I’m happy knowing I got a great deal on car insurance from San Diego Car Insurance. More and more friends are taking up cycling at night – my friend David is even combining it with long exposure photography in Florida! – and I’ve been recommending that they get their car insurance in the same direct link way that I did. Los Angeles Car Insurance, Seattle Car Insurance, and Miami Car Insurance (for you, David!) are great resources for getting the best quotes on car insurance available. Car insurance can be complicated, but these people really know how to simplify it and give you the tools you need to make an affordable choice. Add Comment My Face Hurts 06/21/2011

I just stumbled upon a great article from www.treadlightly.org about mountain biking trail etiquette. The article is titled "Quick Tips for Responsible Mountain Biking" and goes into great detail about how to behave on the trail. It is a must read for beginners and seasoned mountain bikers alike; we can all use a little reminder of both the spoken and unspoken rules of mountain biking. Among the tips are the following that I feel are most important:

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need cars. Bicycles would reign supreme, highways would be replaced with singletrack and gas stations replaced with water fountains. Unfortunately this isn't the case, and for most of us we need cars to get us to the trails. With car ownership comes a lot of other hassles: registration, gas, maintenance, and insurance. If you've ever shopped for car insurance, you know what a pain it can be. Calling around to different agencies takes forever and going to each company's website is equally painstaking. We don't have time for this! We need to ride!!! Some people just go with recommendations from friends but this is often unreliable. This is where our friends over at San Diego Car Insurance come in. They have a solution for us: all your car insurance quotes in one place. You just have to go on the site and click get quote and it takes you to a page where you can get and compare quotes from all the major providers in the area. It's super easy, check it out! Not only does using San Diego Car Insurance save you time (so you can get out and ride more) it saves you money! (so you can spend your hard earned cash on bike stuff!!) Well after about a week and a half of staring at this thing in my house and not being able to ride it, I finally got out on my new 2010 Trek Remedy yesterday afternoon. What an awesome bike!!! It was my first time ever on a Remedy, so I didn't quite know what to expect, but I was definitely pleased. I went out to MIssion Trails in the afternoon and got a short ride in before the rain hit. My first impressions are that it climbs very well, descends extremely well, and pedals nicely on the flats. Seems like a great all-day kind of bike. I was only on it for about an hour though, so once I get more time in the saddle I'll be sure to update you all on what I think of it. On another note, I took a ton of pictures and will be updating the Mission Trails page in the near future with a great short ride starting from the East end of the park. Stay tuned! Big Week for Mountain Biking San Diego 02/01/2010
We went live and our Facebook page went wild! The Mountain Biking San Diego Facebook group is already up to 134 fans and counting after just 5 days!! I love seeing the support from all you guys. Unfortunately the trails are still pretty wet so I've been waiting to get out and ride, but this Sunday I'm planning to go out so I'll have some pictures up for the site. If any of you have pictures of riding around San Diego, make sure to post them on the Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mountain-Biking-San-Diego/268128259649?ref=ts Keep telling y Trail Conditions... 01/27/2010
As you might have guessed, the trails are in pretty bad shape right now with all the rain we've been getting. Though it's hard for me to tell you not to ride, I encourage you all to stay off the trails if they are muddy. Not only does it make a mess of your bike, but it can also ruin the trails you and I love so much. So take it easy this week, give your bike a good cleaning and have it ready to go once we dry out a bit! If you do go out and ride, be sure to post a comment here so that everyone can stay updated on the conditions.
